Tina Remiz is a documentary storyteller and visual artist of Latvian origin, currently residing in the UK’s capital. Trained as a photographer and journalist, Tina works across a wide range of creative platforms, choosing the most effective combination of media to tell a story. In 2011, Tina participated in the Young Photographers’ Alliance Mentoring Programme and her project Night Workers received the ‘Best in Show’ title. Her work has also been recognised by the Document 2011: War on Want photographic award. She achieved the 2nd place in the Single Image category of the 6th Westphoto Prize and the 3rd place in the Netherlands GRID International Photography Festival award. She was shortlisted for Pikto Top Prize and received an Honourable Mention in FotoVisura’s Spotlight Grant. Tina has exhibited in the UK, Ireland, Spain, Latvia and the US.
Her personal work is concerned with issues of migration and cultural identity, and reflects on the personal experience of growing up in post-Soviet Latvia and immigrating to the West in her late teens.
